Tracy Reed is the founder and driving force behind Trauma-Informed Care Advocates (TIC Advocates) a Chicago-based movement grounded in healing, equity, and truth. A survivor, healer, and systems disruptor, Tracy turned her lived experiences with domestic violence, trauma, and community pain into purpose. Her mission: to bring compassion, understanding, and accountability to the spaces where harm and healing collide.
Tracy’s leadership expands far beyond the classroom or circle. She serves on the Auburn-Gresham Public Safety Committee, working to strengthen trauma-informed violence prevention efforts throughout Chicago’s South Side. She has forged community partnerships with organizations including Bright Star Community Outreach AND Communities In Schools (CIS).
Her dedication and authenticity have also gained public recognition. Tracy was featured on WGN, "Hunt For The Chicago Strangler 50 Women Gone" a documentary by Discovery +, "Karinas Law" a documentary by WTTW / PBS sharing her truth and shedding light on how unhealed trauma shapes both victims and perpetrators of violence. These platforms have allowed her to give voice to experiences often left in silence while showing the city what survival, transformation, and leadership truly look like.
Tracy continues to grow TIC Advocates into a model of what healing-centered leadership looks like in real time. Through programs such as Happy, Healthy, Whole, Beyond the Moment, The Growth Habit, and the forthcoming Partner Abuse Prevention & Education (PAIP) initiative, she’s redefining what community-based trauma care can be.
To Tracy, trauma-informed care is a way of life. It’s the bridge between pain and purpose, between what hurt us and what heals us. Her vision is rooted in one belief: no one is too broken to begin again.
